Terms of service

Bookings & Payments

All bookings must be made through our website and are confirmed once full payment has been received. Prices are listed in NZD and include GST. We recommend booking early to secure your preferred style and date. Bookings are not confirmed until payment has been successfully processed.

Rental Period

Rentals must be booked for the day of your event. If your event falls on a weekday, the return date will be the next working day. If your event is on a Saturday, please select Friday as your start date — your return date will then be the next working day (Monday). Your booking covers this period only. Any extensions must be approved prior to dispatch.

Delivery & Returns

We offer both postal and local collection options. Delivery times may vary depending on your location, and courier delays are outside of our control. Postal returns must be lodged at the post office by the next working day after your event using the prepaid return bag provided. If returning in person, please ensure the garment is returned by the agreed time to avoid late fees.

Cancellations & Credits

Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the event date are eligible for a store credit (no refunds). The credit must be communicated and confirmed with Main Character Rentals before the booked rental date. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the event date are not eligible for a refund or store credit. Credits can be used for any future hire within 6 months.

Damage, Stains & Care

All garments are professionally cleaned by Main Character Rentals after each hire — please do not attempt to wash, spot clean, or remove stains yourself. If a garment is returned with damage, excessive stains, or odour, you may be charged for repair, additional cleaning, or replacement costs (up to the retail value of the dress). Normal wear is expected, but please take care to avoid fake tan, perfume, or makeup transfer.

Security Bond

No security bond is required at this time. Main Character Rentals reserves the right to introduce a refundable bond or card authorisation in the future for seamless processing of potential damages or late returns. Customers will be notified if this policy changes.

Late Returns

All items must be returned by the next working day after your event. If a return is late, a $10 per day fee applies until the garment is received. After 7 days, if the item has not been returned or communication has not been made, the full replacement value of the garment may be charged.

Liability & Agreement

By booking with Main Character Rentals, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Main Character Rentals is not responsible for any personal injury, allergic reactions, or issues arising during the rental period. You are responsible for ensuring correct sizing and accurate delivery details at the time of booking. We reserve the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time.
